The scholars didn't go into too much detail about the trail of Sulayman السالم,عليه because we don't know what exactly عليه السالم happened. The main thing to consider is that Sulayman returned to Allah in repentance after his trial, when he realized his mistake. One action can be light for a person, but very heavy and a great sin for another. It depends on your level of faith. The mistakes of the messengers were magnified because of their high level of faith. Sulayman عليه السالم had a unique kingdom and powers, so the trial was great too. The dua that Sulayman made for a kingdom the السالم likes of which no one was given is a unique dua only for him. The wind that Allah subjected to عليه السالم Sulayman carried him wherever he commanded. This was part of the dominion that Allah bestowed upon him. The wind obeyed him because he was In Surah An-Naml, Allah tells us about the armies of Sulayman which comprised of,عليه السالم men, jinn, birds. They were all displayed in front of him every morning, and he knew them all, which is why he noticed when one hoopoe bird was missing. The hoopoe bird explained that it was late because it saw a nation with a The army of Sulayman عليه السالم would stand on a platform or carpet, and the wind would carry them wherever in the world Sulayman عليه السالم commanded. The wind was very swift and stormy. And of the devils were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian. و م ن الش ي اط ني The شياطني can be from several creations. The verb ش ط ن means anyone who goes contrary to the goal. شيطان is a universal word, meaning : ق ال ر ب اغ ف ر ل ي و ه ب ل ي م ل ك ا ال ي نب غ ي أل ح د م ن ب ع د ي إ ن ك أ نت ال و ه اب He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. 2 ! oppressive! exceeding the boundaries! far from the destination The shaitan can be from the jinn, human being, or animal. Jinn can be from the,شياطني الجن believers and the rebellious. Those who are rebellious are called the the devils from the jinn-kind. The disobedient human beings are called the devils from the human-kind. They are more powerful than the,شياطني اإلنس jinn, because they are tangible. The animals who are rebellious are also from the.شياطني Any creature with a rebellious character is from the shaitan. شياطني شيطان ش ط ن! خالف عن قصده! ظ ل م! تجاوز الحد! ب ع د Sulayman عليه السالم had the transport and the slaves to work for him. He controlled the wind and the slaves. We are not allowed to deal with jinn, only the magicians communicate with them, and us them for their evil trade. But Sulayman عليه السالم was not a magician. The jinn in his time taught people And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah. And the people learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But the Children of Israel certainly knew that whoever purchased the magic would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew. سورة البقرة magic in their own time, after they finished their work for Sulayman السالم,عليه but he was not involved. We know this because Allah tells us this fact in the Qura'an. م ن ي غ وص ون ل ه عليه السالم The jinn shayateen in the army of Sulayman had a specific task, they dived into the depths of the ocean for him, places where no human being can go, and retrieved the treasures from the ocean bed, jewels and treasures things which we cannot even imagine. Jinn are created with fire, and they dove under the water, needing no breathing equipment. The word يغوصون is derived from the verb,غاص to dive, come down and be immersed in. The rebellious jinn obeyed Sulayman عليه السالم and dived for him. و ي ع م ل ون ع م ال د ون ذ ل ك They also did other work, which such as building monuments and buildings, houses, arches, statues, huge pots, etc. They built the Beit Al-Maqdis in Jerusalem. They were subjected to all this menial work. Sulayman عليه السالم got all this after he went through a trial, returned to Allah in repentance, and made dua. All the other messengers are slaves of Allah, while Sulayman is a king slave. ي ع م ل ون ل ه م ا ي ش اء م ن م ح ار يب و ت م اث يل و ج ف ان ك ال ج و اب و ق د ور ر اس ي ات They made for him what he willed of elevated chambers, statues, bowls like reservoirs, and stationary kettles. سورة سبا 34:13 (Part of a longer ayah)

The shayateen of the jinn were so afraid of Sulayman stick, he would sit on his throne, leaning on his,السالم watching them work, and they would continue working. When he died, no one realized for a year that he was dead. This is so amazing it makes us think how his family didn't notice he was dead. He remained on his throne, while the jinn worked, until the termites ate away at his stick, and his body fell. The shayateen had wasted a year of their lives working unbeknown. This shows us that the jinn don't know the unseen. And when We decreed for Solomon death, nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff. But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating punishment. سورة سبأ 34:14 Allah gave Sulayman عليه السالم the power, but it was from Allah. He protected Sulayman عليه السالم from the harm of the jinn. They all obeyed him, didn't rebel against him, because of Allah, He was the Guardian. Everything is by the power and protection of Allah. He is الحفيظ,الحافظ the Guardian and Protector. The magicians deal with the jinn and are in constant danger, its like playing with fire; but Allah protected and guarded Sulayman عليه السالم from the jinn, they were unable to rebel and harm him. Allah prevented them, and also protected them from being themselves. Allah can transform the fire into roses, He can subject the jinn to whomever He wishes, and make them do humiliating work. This shows the power and might of Allah. He subjected the most rebellious creation, عليه protected them from harming Sulayman and being rebellious. They were unable to disobey Sulayman. And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful." And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment." 38:41 same words. The ayah begins with the end of the story of Ayyub السالم. The messengers had the most intense trials. Allah never tests anyone beyond their capacity, and only He knows your capability. The story of Ayyub عليه السالم is mentioned in Surah Saad also, in much the و أ ي وب There are many versions of the story of Ayyub عليه السالم in عليه the stories of the Bani Israeel. Ayyub,إسرائيليتات the was a prophet of the Bani Israeel, and he was السالم blessed with all kinds of wealth, such as fields, livestock, properties, children. He lives the best life, and enjoyed these blessings for 70 years. Then his test began, with a fire which destroyed his fields and livestock. Them slowly, one by one, all his blessings disappeared. His children were sitting one day, eating, and the house feel upon them, killing them all. He knew he was being tested, and remained patient throughout.

4 All his wealth was gone in the blink of an eye, and the intensity of the test increased. His health was also taken away, he developed leprosy, which affected His whole body, except his tongue and his heart. Even his organs were affected. The people forsook him, and left him in a garbage dump. He couldn't even use water to wash his body. No one wanted to associate with him because of his appearance and the smell. No one visited him, except for his wife, and two of his brothers. He remained in this state for 18 years. This gives console to people with afflictions, nothing can be more than the affliction of Ayyub السالم,عليه no one can face what he bore. This was a test, it was not because he sinned, or was ungrateful. His wife served him, and questioned it, but he said he had enjoyed a blessed life for 70 years, and this was nothing, so he bore everything patiently. He said that Allah had taken away everything which could distract him from the remembrance of Allah, and left his heart and tongue, is that he could worship Allah with these two organs. Ayyub عليه السالم was so grateful and appreciative for this. Through the 18 years, everyone abandoned him, while for 70 years he has a position as a wealthy prophet of the Bani Israeel, and everyone had looked up to him. Don't attach to people, they will leave you. Only Allah stays with you throughout your trials and tests. You know your real friends in times of trouble. His two brothers speculated that he must have committed some great sin for Allah to have reduced him to this condition, and told them their opinion when they visited him. But Ayyub عليه السالم told them he has passed by two men arguing, and has asked for their forgiveness. He refused to believe he was being punished. We must not judge people in this way, by their condition, jumping to conclusions. The wife of Ayyub عليه السالم was reduced to working as a servant to be able to feed him, but eventually no one wanted to hire her because they were afraid they would be infected with leprosy. So she cut her long and beautiful hair and sold those to buy food. She asked Ayyub عليه السالم to make dua to Allah. إ ذ ن اد ى ر ب ه When Ayyub عليه السالم found out how his wife was affected, he relented and made dua to Allah. He feel into sujood and beseeched Allah. He didn't complain, even when he was making dua. He didn't question why he was enduring these troubles. He didn't behave badly with Allah, and only,التوصل said that the harm had touched him. He made connecting with Allah, by stating his condition. This story should shut all our mouths. There can be nothing as difficult as what Ayyub endured. His story is one of patience and gratitude. He was afflicted from all around him. Imagine how people behave with Allah at the smallest problem. But Ayyub never even mentioned that Allah tested him. To attribute any hardship to Allah is misbehaviour. We believe in the Qadr of Allah, but we cannot accuse Allah. So Ayyub only said that the harm touched him. Imagine the level of his faith. All the tribulations were as a touch for him. Even in such dire circumstances, his dua was full of etiquette. Your wealth is not like that of Sulayman, and your troubles are not like those of Ayyub, so you have no reason to be arrogant or impatient. All this time, Ayyub could do nothing else, but he praised Allah with his tongue, and worshipped Him with his heart. Cupping (hijama) on an empty stomach is best. In it is a cure and a blessing. It improves the intellect and the memory. So cup yourselves with the blessing of Allah on Thursday. Keep away from cupping (hijama) on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to be safe. Perform cupping (hijama) on Monday and Tuesday for it is the day that Allah saved Ayyub from a trial. He was inflicted with the trial on Wednesday. You will not find leprosy except (by being cupped) on Wednesday or Wednesday night. Ayyub عليه السالم attributed the shaitan for all this, saying : 34:81} : ص} Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment أ ن ي م س ن ي الش ي ط ان ب ن ص ب و ع ذ اب

5 Allah protected Sulayman عليه السالم from the shayateen of the jinn, but Ayyub عليه السالم was tested by the shaitan. This is the wisdom of Allah. Both were messengers. We cannot say one was better than the other. We cannot say that Allah favoured Sulayman and punished Ayyub. Allah gave us examples of sabr and shukr. Allah knows which test is suitable for whom. We couldn't take these tests, but they could. The higher the status, the more intense the test. There is no comparison between the tests. و أ نت أ ر ح م الر اح م ني Ayyub عليه السالم made tawassul with the names of Allah, approaching Allah with His name the Most Merciful, from those with mercy. He didn't ask for anything, just stated his condition, and praised Allah with His perfect names. It was as if he was saying to Allah to give him from His mercy. So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah ]. As soon as he made the dua, Allah responded. The difficult years of the life of Ayyub عليه السالم is not mentioned in the Qura'an, it may have been too painful for us to read. So Allah tells us the story in light words, in a way which we can bear. ف ك ش ف ن ا م ا ب ه م ن ض ر Allah told Ayyub to take an action, to run, even a little. The response of Allah is associated with your action. Take the means. So he ran a few steps, which was all he could manage, and a spring of cold water appeared under his feet. In a difficult time, don't sit and feel sorry for yourself, do something. Be a part of the cure. This is similar to what Allah told Maryam when she gave birth, that she should shake the palm tree. (19:23) Allah instructed Ayyub to wash with the cold water, and drink it too. This was the treatment for leprosy. The respite came from inside and outside, the same way the trial came. As soon as he washed with the water, and drank it, his sickness disappeared. This was a story of extreme sabr and extreme shukr. [So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for] a cool bath and drink."
